Elephant House Cream Soda extends winning streak at People’s Awards

Sri Lanka’s most popular beverage, Elephant House Cream Soda, has again earned
the highly coveted ”Beverage Brand of the Year” honor at the recently concluded
SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards 2019.

This is the 13th straight win in this category for Elephant House Cream Soda, which
extends a winning streak that goes all the way back to the inauguration of the SLIM-
Nielsen People’s Awards in 2006.

Elephant House was also doubly recognized this year with this beloved beverage also
winning the “Youth Choice Beverage Brand of the Year” award for 2019, a strong
indicator of the popularity Elephant House Cream Soda currently enjoys among local
youth.

Further, it is also important to bear in mind that Elephant House Cream Soda
has won almost every “Youth Choice Beverage Brand of the Year” award since 2013.

One of the most awaited marketing events in Sri Lanka’s corporate calendar, due to
the nominees and awardees being chosen by the voice of the people, the SLIM-
Nielsen People’s Awards are the culmination of a comprehensive nationwide
research study conducted by Nielsen Sri Lanka, one of the world’s largest
information and research companies that provides expertise in market research. The
SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards also stands out because the general public acts as the
ultimate judge, rating their favorite brands, personalities, etc. and giving a verdict.

Award winners are identified via an island-wide quantitative face-to-face survey
covering males and females aged between 15 to 60 years, that was conducted over a
period of five months utilizing a structured questionnaire. Tapping all districts in the
country, including the North and East, interviews were carried out by trained Nielsen
interviewers who exercised randomized household selection, with respondents
asked to mention their favorite brands, personalities, etc. across a variety of
categories.
